Last workshops for 2008

This spring I'll be giving introductory or advanced weight loss workshops in Sydney, Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane. To find out about these workshops or book your seat, click here.

Last month I gave my inaugural Advanced Workshop on Why Most Diets Fail and What to do About it in Melbourne.

The workshop was a lot of fun, and people said it helped to crystallize the specific things they needed to do in order to lose weight effectively.

"Hi Amanda, it was great to come to your workshop. I liked that it was a small group so that it was easier for everyone to share stories. One week later ... I have really been focusing on how hungry I feel and if I feel full. I haven't weighed myself again but I can feel in clothes that I have lost weight." Debbie

"It was great to hear others peoples issues and realise that most women go through the same thoughts, feelings, emotions and especially fears in regards to weight loss. I really walked away feeling like I could achieve the goals I had listed at the end of the session. I felt positive in regards to my weight loss rather than the usual negative feelings associated with it." Emine

"What I liked most about this workshop was being in a small group of people who also have the knowledge and intelligence to realize what you are teaching is correct but still have problems putting it all into action. I realized that many people have similar issues and your 10 key stumbling blocks made the struggle I've been having so much clearer. The final pieces of my weight struggle fell into place. Now I know what I need to watch out for and I feel empowered to take control and put my weight issues to the back of my mind at last. I can relax and focus on the rest of my life." Merran Clark, Blackburn, Victoria

"This is the first weight-loss regime I have encountered where we are asked to listen to our body's needs and only eat to that standard, something that probably never occurred to most of us. Having all read your book meant we had a common basis for discussion. This is the first time in about 45 years of dieting that I have felt really positive about the process. In this time, I turned 70 in July and during much celebrating managed to keep 3 pounds off, rather than gaining 3 pounds which could easily have happened." Clare, Camberwell, Victoria.

I still have a few places remaining for my Sydney and Perth Advanced Workshops. If you'd like to join me in a session that will get you on track for spring, click here to book now.

What our readers say...

"Dear Dr Amanda, Thank you for liberating me from the guilt trip I've been on every time I eat and giving me the tools I needed to begin losing weight i.e. your satiety rules combined with knowledge of our body's famine reaction and fat brake. I bought your book earlier this year out of desperation, after seeing an add on facebook. I'm so glad I did, since then my husband has read it and I've bought a copy for a friend (I've never previously recommended any weight loss theory that I've read to anyone! as for yours, I can't stop talking about it to everyone I know). Although I did not begin to use it straight away, it did make me change the way I approach food and think about it. It wasn't until about 5 weeks ago that I put it into action and the weight is still coming off very easily. What I didn't have when I began the book was the right motivation to lose the weight for 'me'. After two years of trying to get pregnant with out second child and weighing in at 130 kilograms I knew after numerous tests came back negative, that my weight was the likely culprit. 5wks later I am 7 kilos lighter, and although this may not seem like much for someone who has more than 50 kilos to lose, for me it is huge. I've never lost so much weight so quickly and easily and all while eating 4 decent meals a day. Now that I've begun to eat mostly 'real' foods and cut most of the crap from my diet, I find that my body does not require such large portions so often (because it is not starving due to malnutrition!). I've gotten to the point where I no longer have to pay such close attention to my levels of hunger or satiety, my body self regulates it and I eat accordingly. I always used to watch 'skinny' people eat and wonder how can you eat so little and be full. I know find that I'm doing the same. I'm not skinny yet but my body has learnt to appreciate 'real' wholesome food. Thank you for opening my eyes. God bless you. "
